This Privacy Policy describes how Money Mate ("we", "our", or "the App") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your financial data remains secure and private.

1. Data Collection and Usage

A. Local Financial Data

Money Mate is a local-first application. This means that your transaction history, account balances, budget settings, and financial goals are stored locally on your device.

• We do not upload your financial data to any external servers.
• We do not have access to your bank accounts, login credentials, or personal identity.

B. SMS Data (Automated Tracking)

The App uses the RECEIVE_SMS and READ_SMS permissions to automatically detect financial transactions from your bank or UPI service providers.

• Processing: All SMS parsing is performed on-device.
• Scope: The App only analyzes SMS messages from known financial institutions to extract transaction amounts and merchant names.
• Privacy: No SMS content is ever transmitted outside of your device.

C. Biometric Data

If you enable the Biometric Lock feature, the App uses the Android Biometric API.

• We do not collect or store your fingerprint or face data. Authentication is handled entirely by the Android system.

2. Third-Party Services

While we do not collect your data directly, the App uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you:

• Google Play Services: For App functionality and updates.
• Google AdMob: To display advertisements. AdMob may use device identifiers to show personalized ads.
• Google Play Billing: To process in-app purchases and subscriptions. Payment information is handled securely by Google and is never shared with us.

3. Permissions and Their Purpose

• SMS (READ/RECEIVE): To automatically log expenses from bank alerts.
• Notifications: To provide daily balance briefings and spending alerts.
• Internet: To load advertisements and process in-app purchases.
• Biometrics: To secure the App from unauthorized access.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally, you have full control:

• Deletion: You can delete specific transactions or accounts within the App settings.
• Full Reset: Uninstalling the App or clearing the App storage via Android Settings will permanently delete all your financial data from the device.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures provided by the Android OS (such as Room Encrypted Database principles and BiometricPrompt) to protect your local data. However, no method of local storage is 100% secure; we recommend using a device passcode or biometric lock.

6. Children's Privacy

The App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
